Indications for olanzapine
This drug is used to treat the manifestations of mental disorders.
Mechanism of action of olanzapine
If the mechanism indicates the antipsychotic effect of this drug, but probably by the action of monoamine receptor antagonists (dopamine and serotonin) it exerts this effect. However, this drug also has an antagonistic effect on muscarinic alpha 1 adrenergic receptors. May be weakly bound to the GABAa receptors of benzodiazepines and beta.
Pharmacokinetics of olanzapine
It is quickly and well absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract. In the first pass, 40% of the drug is metabolized. The half-life of the drug is 30 hours and the rate of drug binding to the protein is 93%. It is mainly metabolized in the liver. Excretion of the drug occurs through urine (7% unchanged and 57% as metabolites) and feces (30%).
Contraindications to the use of olanzapine
Should not be used in case of hypersensitivity to products.

Cardiovascular: postural hypotension
Central nervous system: drowsiness, extra-pyramidal reaction, acacia (Parkinson’s restlessness), Parkinson’s-like syndrome (including Akinesia, muscular stiffness of the muscles, extra-pyramidal syndrome, hypertension, hypokinesia, no change in facial expressions such as mask, tremor), dizziness Headache, fatigue, insomnia
Endocrinology and metabolism: increase in serum prolactin, weight gain
Gastrointestinal: increased appetite, dry mouth, indigestion, constipation
